Important Terms
- Aesthetics – very simply put, the art of film making.
- Codes & Conventions – the various visual and audio techniques used to construct film.
- Ideology – ideas, either those of the film maker or the viewer, ideology has a major impact on the way one makes or interprets anything.
- Arthouse – all texts including overtly artistic film as well as foreign films not made by Hollywood.
- Stereotypes – generalized categories that we use to make sense of the world; we need to be able to deconstruct these stereotypes as they can be the source of prejudice.
