Topic for Task 3 (Response)

Dr Richard Helmer identifies in his interview with Kylie Johnson a number of applications of  this technology on other work environments and industries.  Select one of these alternative applications of the technology and preprare a presentation, podcast or report that provides an overview of the impact of this technology on your particular chosen inudstry or work environment.

Length: 1200 words

You need to submit:

1. Evidence of research including title of website, url, date when accessed, screen shots and notes.
2. Report including appropriate illustrations, layout and referencing.

How to approach this task:

1. Write an introduction giving a brief overview highlighting that you are reporting on the use of haptic technology as applied in the medical world.
2. Discuss the concept of haptic technology.  Explain terms such as interface, tactile and kinesthetic haptics.
3. Give a detailed discussion of present applications of haptic technology in the medical arena.
4. Give a well reasoned discussion of how the use of haptic technology in treating medical conditions may develop in the future.  Refer to integration of different types of systems and the concept of Virtual Reality (VR).  You are encouraged to make reference to applications in other areas of life e.g. gaming.
5. Write a conclusion which is effectively a version of your introduction.
